In this post I will be reviewing Hong Kong Airlines own lounge at HKG. We visited the lounge on the outbound to Thailand and on our way home. I covered the flight there in the previous post. In total we spend around 6 hours in the lounge, due to some delays on our way home.
This is part of a broader trip report and you can find the other installments below:

A quick transit and no immigration
Since we only connected in Hong Kong, we didn’t have to go through immigration when we landed. Plus we only had carry-on luggage so we didn’t have to worry about a thing in Hong Kong. The only thing we had to do was to re-clear security to get into the terminal. Once we got in the terminal for the 200 Gates, the lounge was clearly marked and a level above the terminal. We were greeted by the friendly attendants at a desk outside and within seconds we were inside the lounge.
Pro Tip: Keep walking towards the back for a more quiet space
Clean and Luxurious Showers
The first think you see is a seating area to the right. To the left is the entrance to the shower area and bathrooms. All shower rooms also have a toilet in them. To use the shower, you have to register with the front desk. They provide you with a buzzer which rings once a room is ready. Both times I didn’t have to wait very long. The rooms were spacious and had everything you need in terms of shampoo, body wash etc. All products were from L’Occitane and very nice. They also provided a toothbrush kit. I was certainly happy to refresh both times we visited. I also noticed that both the shower rooms and bathrooms were always super clean, which was nice.
Plentiful buffet and Signature cocktails
Moving further into the lounge you have the drinks, bar and coffee machine. In most lounges drinks are all self-serve, whereas here only non-alcoholic drinks were. They also had some Signature cocktails. I had a cocktail with rum and it was both delicious and refreshing.
Next was the buffet offering both cold and hot options. They also had a mix of Western and Chinese options. Their dim sum and dumplings in the morning were a favorite of mine. If you are more into Udon noodles, they have a made to order station with a few options that are made fresh for you.
Different Seating throughout
Overall the lounge is very spacious and has a lot of different seating options throughout. From leather armchairs to high-top tables and community tables. In the back where Day beds that we took advantage of and took a nap for a few hours. They were very quiet, outfitted with a fresh blanket and a bit away from rest of the lounge.
When we visited in the evening on our way to Bangkok it was not very crowded. On the way back in the morning it was a different story. Again we were able to find some open day beds and also open seating all the way in the back.
Summary:
This lounge was a great place to wait between flights. The lounge is spacious, has plenty of seating areas and great food and drinks. Another plus for us on both legs were the ability to shower, as well as the day beds that we took full advantage of on the way home. Overall a big thumps up to Hong Kong Airlines and their lounge.
Anyone have a great lounge that they visited before?
