$150 – $250 retention offer on Chase Sapphire Reserve card

A couple of years ago Chase made a big splash with the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. I know many people who have the card in their wallets today. I am one of those and still get tremendous value out of it. Up to this point Chase had never offered any retention offers on this card.

Feeling the Covid pressure

There are many reports out there that people are getting retention or courtesy offers from Chase on their cards. I first saw this on Frequent Miler, a blog I follow. Not to be deterred I made the call. My strategy was to specifically ask about the offer, as I didn’t want to play around and waste any time.

Mention you want to cancel

Since I got nowhere, I switched to say that I was considering canceling the card and if that would trigger anything. Within five seconds she offered me a $150 statement credit. No strings attached. Normally they give you a lengthy legal disclaimer, but I didn’t receive that either. Happily I accepted the offer. In my euphoria I forgot to ask if any other cards had similar offers available, so will be calling back on that.

$150 for a four minute phone call

I would urge anyone with credit cards from Chase to call sooner than later and see what offers might be available. The number I call is 855-896-2222. Again make sure to mention you considering canceling the card to trigger any potential offers. Elli will be calling in shortly as well, so hopefully that will go similar.

Summary

After my success on my American Express card a few weeks ago this is the second score. In total that is $300 so far. Therefore don’t sleep on some free money and make the call.

Let me know in the comments any success stories!
